Tyne Valley Big Band<\/b>, all six million of them, on stage ready to go but not before Jazz in My Pants marched in to once more give it a blast. Fantastic.\u00a0Dave Hignett<\/b>, the\u00a0TVBB\u2019s\u00a0<\/b>MD, has knocked into shape a cracking band in next to no time. Resplendent in band t-shirts and matching music stands (all six million of them) the orchestra presented a programme ranging from\u00a0Sweet Georgia Brown<\/i>\u00a0to\u00a0Sway<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0Mack the Knife<\/i>\u00a0(featuring vocalist Barbra Hignett) to Sammy Nestico\u2019s\u00a0Lonely Street<\/i>\u00a0(alto solo from\u00a0Kelly Rose<\/b>) to the Pink Panther Theme (hear that triangle!). Our expert triangularist marched\u00a0New Orleans\u2019 style around the marquee, taking the opportunity on the way to order a pint from the bar at the back of the room without missing a beat! At this point it should be noted that the\u00a0TVBB<\/b>\u00a0enjoys a \u2018working relationship\u2019 with the Wylam Brewery but on this occasion it was a case of \u2018needs must\u2019.\u00a0Alistair Lord<\/b>\u00a0played the high register stuff in the trumpet section,\u00a0Andrea DeVere<\/b>\u00a0took the big tenor parts and singer Barbra Hignett returned to belt out\u00a0R.E.S.P.E.C.T.<\/i>\u00a0Respect to\u00a0BH<\/b>! The\u00a0TVBB\u00a0<\/b>left us with a cookin\u2019\u00a0Apple Honey<\/i>\u00a0(DeVere solo, rhythm section, ensemble). If anyone had been in a Sunday morning stupour they would certainly have been woken up by the\u00a0Tyne Valley Big Band<\/b>.’<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
