We huddled together to keep warm and dry and end our Summer at the now annual Music by the Riverside arranged by Prudhoe Community partnership.

TVBB on the field of Mud. Northumberland County Show
Phew what a logistical struggle to get us all through or over the mud and powered up for our slot completing a fabulous day of local live music at the Northumberland County Show.
Days of torrential rain had led to a quagmire scenario and quieter crowds than normal but we had a good day.

The worldwide Corona virus pandemic has forced us into exile along with many other bands.
We have however used our time wisely to create our very own lockdown Video.
Thanks must go to our MD Dave Hignett for coordinating the project with our great friend and “resting” keyboard player Kevin Wright who did the spadework creating the video from a multitude of parts and lockdown videos.
Thanks also to Caroline Guirr and Tom Cantwell who laid down the backing track to keep us in harness.
We are looking forward at some point in the future to resuming activities but this seems unlikely to happen until at least after the summer break. Hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Phoenix Nite and TVBB Curry Saathis
Pre Easter Phoenix Nite and TVBB Curry went down a storm last night. Great performances from the Tyne Valley Jazz Ensemble and Tyne Valley Youth Big Band.
No time to squeeze the TVBB in so it was off for a curry and the traditional ‘Handing over of the Whisky to our glorious MD Dave Hignett. (Straight no Chaser)
Thank you for the kind donations to the Mark Jon Bolderson Foundation who continue to keep Marks memory alive with the fantastic opportunities they are giving to young percussionists.
Great North Big Band Festival
As always a great day out for the band in Sunderland/Chester le Street.
We got some lovely feedback from the audience and adjudicators.

Exciting New Youth Jazz Ensembles at Core Music
We are also pleased to announce our association with the Tyne Valley Jazz Ensemble and Tyne Valley Youth Big Band, two exciting new Youth Jazz Ensembles which have been set up by Core Music in association with the Queens Hall, aiming to develop young Jazz musicians in the region. Both Bands will be directed by Dave Hignett with specialist guest tutors invited as required.
Dave Hignett is a local Jazz Trumpeter and teacher who conceived the Sage Gateshead’s regional Big Band “Jambone” in 2001 and directed the band for 10 years.
Dave also directed the Northumberland County Youth Jazz Orchestra for 15 years and initiated the Northumberland Intermediate Jazz Orchestra and Tyne Valley Big Band.
The bands will display strong progression routes, with the TVYBB feeding into the award winning community Tyne Valley Big Band, also based in Hexham.
