Tyne Valley Big Band is now Rocket Fuelled!
We are very excited to have a new sponsor for the band following a generous gesture from John Boyle of Wylam Brewery to supply us with a set of polo shirts and folders for our music pads.
Wylam Village just across the fields from the brewery is important in local industrial history being the birth place of George Stephenson, pivotal in the development of early railways and who famously designed the “Rocket”.
Wylam Brewery is close to George Stephensons birthplace, now open as a small museum.
Charles Parsons, Victorian industrialist and inventor of the turbine lived just along the road from the brewery at Holeyn Hall. He is seen here demonstrating Turbinia to the Royal Navy at the Spithead Review of 1897.
Turbinia is on display in Newcastle Discovery Museum.
Wylam Brewery will be represented at several of the events we are playing at this year so we hope you will be able to support them. See Calendar for details.
If you are visiting the area the brewery sells beer directly to the public and can arrange Brewery tours. See the brewery website for details.
