Big Band, Big Sound!

Based in Hexham, Northumberland we came together in September 2011 and  have developed into an exciting big band under the directorship of our MD Dave Hignett.

We have built up a varied and exciting repertoire from Big Band standards to more modern arrangements.

Over the years we have played at many great venues including,

Tall Ship Regattas at Blyth and Sunderland

BBC Children in Need Hexham.

Northumberland County Show annually.

Tynedale Beer Festivals at Corbridge and Haydon Bridge annually,

Bishop Auckland Town Hall Tea Dance as part of Durham Brass Festival.

We are regular performers at the Great North Big Band Festival Chester le Street where we have won several awards.

Booking the band

We are available to play at events.

We  rely on donations from gigs to offset some of our costs and to buy new music to expand our repertoire.

We usually play a 2 hour set of 2 X 45 minutes slots and can vary the style of music depending on the type of event.

Joining the band

There is a finite limit to how many people we can accommodate in the band.

At present most of our seats are filled with some sections of the band being oversubscribed.
